The digital era has reshaped the way young people learn, communicate, and spend their time. While technology and social media have created countless opportunities, they have also become major distractions. Many young people spend hours scrolling through social media instead of developing abilities that can shape their future.
At the same time, industries continue to evolve. Employers no longer look only for degrees. They seek candidates who can apply their knowledge through practical skills, digital literacy, communication, and problem-solving. As a result, many graduates struggle to secure employment—not because they lack education, but because they have not developed the skills today’s job market calls for. Therefore, investing in skill development has become more important than ever.
If India aims to become a developed nation, it must empower its youth with the right knowledge and practical expertise. A skilled young population sparks innovation, strengthens industries, creates employment opportunities, and propels economic growth. Key facts: Around 273 million children and young people worldwide remain outside the education system, limiting their opportunities to build the knowledge and skills needed for a better future.
Nearly one in five people between the ages of 15 and 34 is disconnected from education, employment, or training, highlighting the urgent need for inclusive skill development initiatives.
The focus must move beyond formal education towards practical learning and industry-relevant skill development, ensuring that young people are prepared for real-world careers rather than qualifications alone.
