Why Is Adolescent and Young Adult Health Important?
An estimated 1.2 million adolescents die every year – mostly from preventable causes.
Indian population contributes 21% of the population concerning adolescent children. As we all have seen the untidiness of slums leads to disease generation. Many children die due to insufficient hunger and untreated diseases. Nowadays children at a very young age get diseases due to unhealthy eating choices. Today’s era prefers fast food rather than homemade which leads to health issues. We distribute free homemade cooked food to the families living in slums.
Children nowadays not only prefer to eat unhealthily, but they consume alcoholic drinks. This unhealthy food practice leads to an inactive lifestyle. And this also leads to many problems like excessive weight gain, PCOD (females), Thyroid, High B.P., etc. . We encourage children for eating healthy food with zero wastage. Many homeless people sleep hungry every night in India. The parents are unable to feed their children, which affects the adolescent health.
The onset of adolescence brings with it more dangers for teenage girls. Destitute and biased social and orientation standards can limit young women’s life decisions. And reject them with educative, social, and monetary open doors. Every year, an estimated 23 million teenage young women become pregnant. Maternal mortality – as a rule, linked to child marriage – is the main source of death for young women aged 15-19. Female genital mutilation can also cause dangerous unforeseen problems.
A Giggles Welfare Organization not only helps adolescent people in their critical stage by regular counselling in slums and proper guidance of our voluntary team. Along with this, we provide free transportation facilities to disabled persons. We treat them free of cost and help in do their day-to-day activities easily. A person with a disability faces many problems and we help them in learning ways to do daily activities.
