Human trafficking is the act of enslaving and exploiting a person through force, fraud, or coercion. Traffickers target children, needy people, the poor, girls, the underprivileged, the physically or mentally disabled, and others. To trick, coerce, and deceive victims, those who use manipulation, physical threat, emotional harm, sham job and schooling commitments. The majority of human trafficking victims  forced to work as prostitutes, domestic servants, workers, homeless people, etc.

Human trafficking is among the most disturbing issues that many countries around the world face. Human trafficking, according to the UNODC website, is a crime  recruitment, transport, transfer, harboring or receipt of a person. Such means as the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, abduction, fraud etc. for the exploitation

What all does Human Trafficking Involve?

Trafficking entails the nonconsensual transportation of an individual from one location to another, as well as the coercive use of their services, with the goal of enlisting them in commerce for commercial gain.

Types of Human Trafficking

Sexual Trafficking

Sexual trafficking refers to the exploitation and violence of migrants sexual acts. This condition for the traffickers to allow or arrange their migration. Physical or mental exploitation and threat of force, abuse of power, deception, and bondage incurred. Through forced debt are frequently used in this type of trafficking.

Often, victims of trafficking women and children offered money in the service or domestic industries. However, they are choosing to take to brothels or other locations where they  forced to work as sex workers.

While the traffickers seize their travel documents as well as other identification documents.

Child Trafficking

Child trafficking is a massive problem in our country, and it continues to be prevalent. The hiring, transportation, harboring, transmit, or receipt of children for the intent of slavery, indentured servitude, or exploitation is defined. Child exploitation can take many forms, such as commercial sexual exploitation, which contains trying to force a child in to the sex trafficking or any other type of sexual activity, such as pornographic material.

Human Trafficking Rules by Government to Curb

To address the issue of human trafficking and combat this heinous blight some amendment, and law is made by government.  These laws raised public awareness of the plight of human trafficking victims while also protecting their rights. To eliminate human trafficking, that has a long-term impact on the daily lives of individuals, family members, homes, and wider communities.

• Article 23(1) of the Indian Constitution forbids human trafficking and states that every violation of this is a chargeable crime under the law.
• The Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act of 1956 it amended in 1986 defines different aspects of trafficking, including sex trafficking and young person trafficking as infractions, with punitive action prescribed in the Act.
• However, it is important to note that these regulations are not of much support even though trafficking occurs with the knowledge of vulnerable victims and thus goes unreported. In this regard, non-governmental organizations are the only ones to be awake to tries at trafficking and, in some cases, have hindered trafficking and attempts at trafficking with the aid of law enforcement officials.
• Recognizing the country’s overwhelming need for a comprehensive and comprehensive anti-human trafficking bill, the Ministry of Women and Child Development introduced the Trafficking in Persons (Prevention, Care, and Rehabilitation) Bill in 2021, which has yet to be passed.
